Needlepoint Figural Chair, Rose, Creme Painted Wood, by brigitta-ingeborg posted on May 16, 2012 04:35: This is a charming needlepoint side chair, circa 1930's. The chair back is what I like best. There is a dapper young man in 1800's attire wearing a rose & magenta colored frockcoat, a vest and breeches, and holding a black top hat in his right hand. The background is a lovely dusky rose accented with roses and white daisies. The flowers are repeated on the seat cushion. The chair measures 33 1/2 inches in height. The cushion is 19 1/2 inches X 19 inches. The wood is painted a creamy color and is accented with gilt which has faded over the years to a subtle shade, as has the cream painted wood. Antique Wooden 3-Leg Birthing Chair/Stool by almostheav1 posted on May 23, 2012 01:48: I purchased this birthing chair at a farm sale while I was living in West Virginia. I believe it is a genuine original antique-in all my travels and visits to antique stores, estate sales, craft fairs, etc. I had never seen another antique birthing chair and I also have never seen anyone making reproductions of these and selling them at craft fairs. This chair is the only one I had ever seen and I didn't even know what it was at first. I had to do some research and it wasn't until I was at a colonial museum where I saw a birthing chair almost identical to this one, that I was sure of what it was and its approximate age.
