Beautiful old Miao embroidery. Cross stitch and satin stitch. This square panel could have been to cover the head; but i'm not sure. It is backed by fabric which has been waxed and is possibly covered with water buffalo's or pig's blood and egg white to give it a leather look texture In good condition. Beautiful antique Chinese hat for a boy; a so called scholar's hat. It is made of different red silk panels each embroidered with a flower. On top there is a small crown. The front is embroidered with ab baby boy and lotus flowers. With a nice pink silk tassel (one is missing). Long black tassels at the back. It is lined with paper and blue cotton. In good condition. these are very small silk shoes for bound feet. The shoes date to the early 20th century and are in good condition. they are made of different colors of silk, which makes them very special. I've not seen any other pair of shoes for bound feet made in this "patchwork" style. Lined with red paper. The soles are also in silk and have embroidered flowers on them. Length sole 12 cm, width 5 cm; height shoe 5 cm. (L 4.72 x W 1.97 x H 1.97 inches). The shoes have been worn but are in good condition. the silk is still strong with no wear or tears but overall they are a bit grubby commensurate with age and usage.
